Hi Lilian, I'm taking the exam today. I've been reading everything I could find on Genesys about it, and for the past two weeks I've been practicing with Gemini (it creates a simulator and gives you feedback).
    Good luck!!

If you already work with Architect, I don't see the exam as complicated. But if you don't actively work in this area, I recommend paying attention to:

    Architect and flow types
Understand what each flow is used for: Inbound Call, Outbound Call, Message Flow, Bot Flow, Secure Flow, and Common Module.

    IVR, menus, and prompts
Study how to create menus, play messages, capture customer options, and handle errors or invalid attempts.

    Bots
Focus on intent, slot, utterances, and confirmation. This covers several bot-related questions.

    Architect actions
Know when to use: Switch, Data Table Lookup, Call Data Action, Transfer to ACD, Set/Get Participant Data, and Play Audio.

    Variables and expressions
Understand default variables, user-created variables, and functions such as Append, as well as Call.Ani.

    Data Tables and integrations
Study table lookups, primary key, CSV import, Salesforce and Data Actions

    Schedules and Call Routing
Understand business hours, holidays, schedule groups, and DID mapping to the correct flow.

    Secure Flow
Know how to protect sensitive data and pass data between flows using Participant Data.

    Flow metrics
Study Flow Outcomes, Flow Milestones, and Flow Performance.

    Queues and agent routing
Review ACD, skill-based routing, Bullseye Routing, Alerting Timeout, ACW, and Divisions.

    Hello Lilian,

Some key skills that really help are:

    • Building and understanding IVR/call flows
    • Working with menus, tasks, decisions, and transfers
    • Using variables and Architect expressions
    • Basic troubleshooting and error handling
    • Understanding queues and routing
    • Knowing how Data Actions and integrations work
    • Following good flow design practices

I'd also recommend practicing real scenarios, like:

    • Creating flows from scratch
    • Testing transfers and routing
    • Fixing validation errors
    • Working with reusable tasks and variables

    Hello, @Lilian Masselli.

All the content of the study guide is really important, but for me, the key is always practicing your flow building. With more practice, you can fix all the content and become familiar with key tools and architect behaviors.

To perform well on the Genesys Cloud Architect Certification exam, I'd focus on building both hands-on configuration skills and a solid understanding of call flow design logic. The exam is very practical, so memorizing menus alone usually isn't enough.

Here are the practical skills I consider essential:

    1. Architect Flow Design
      • Create and troubleshoot inbound call flows, IVRs, and menus
      • Understand reusable tasks, loops, decision actions, and transfer logic
      • Build clean routing paths and error handling
    2. Call Routing & Queues
      • Configure queues, skills, routing methods, and agent utilization
      • Know how Architect interacts with ACD routing
      • Understand schedules, holidays, and after-hours behavior
    3. Data Actions & Integrations
      • Use Data Actions with APIs
      • Parse JSON responses and pass variables between actions
      • Understand secure credential handling and common integration patterns
    4. Variables & Expressions
      • Work confidently with Architect expressions
      • Use string, boolean, numeric, and collection functions
      • Debug variable scope and null-value issues
    5. User Input & Bot Logic
      • Configure DTMF and speech recognition
      • Handle validation, retries, and no-input/no-match scenarios
      • Understand basic bot and conversational flow concepts
    6. Flow Troubleshooting
      • Read execution paths logically
      • Use Architect validation tools and error messages effectively
      • Identify routing failures, unreachable actions, and variable issues
    7. Prompt Management
      • Configure TTS and audio prompts
      • Understand prompt sequencing and multilingual support
      • Manage reusable prompt resources efficiently
    8. Secure Flow Design Best Practices
      • Avoid hardcoded values
      • Build modular and reusable flows
      • Apply naming standards and maintainable design practices
    9. Real-World Scenario Thinking
      • The exam often tests whether you understand why a flow should be designed a certain way
      • Practice designing complete customer journeys, not just isolated actions
    10. Hands-On Practice in a Lab Environment
    • This is probably the biggest differentiator
    • Build sample flows yourself:
      • Main IVR
      • Holiday routing
      • Queue callback
      • CRM lookup via Data Action
      • Error fallback paths

    A good preparation strategy is:

    • Study the official Architect learning paths
    • Build flows from scratch repeatedly
    • Practice troubleshooting intentionally broken flows
    • Understand the interaction between Architect, queues, routing, and integrations

I would like suggest a Plan to study:

Complementing what Suzi mentioned, what really helped me early in my career was gaining hands-on experience with Genesys Cloud from the very beginning of the platform, which ultimately provided the foundation I needed to succeed in the exam.
