Hi,
we have noticed that there is about 300 ms delay for an internal call between two Genesys softphones. We measure the audio delay not on the network level but on the MIC IN , AUDIO OUT level. In other words, we place a call from Agent A to Agent B. Once connected we send a unique sound and measure the time it takes to hear it in the headset of Agent B. On average this is between 300 to 400 ms. The actual network delay seems to be about 20 ms for each leg of the call. In other words, we suspect that over 200 ms out of 300+ ms is due to the sound processing inside the softphone. We wanted to check. if this is the case by trying to connect a Polycom handset and measuring the delay that way; however, it seems as many of Polycom handsets are now using a software codec. Does anyone know if Polycom VVX series are a good option? Or are there some other Polycom phones that usually rely on hardware for their audio processing?
