  • 1.  changing the "send from" email

    Posted 19 hours ago

I think this is a fairly new feature. I added a secondary outbound email address to a queue.

When I create a new email, I am able to change the FROM, however, I cant find the permission to allow it for others.

Which permission will allow the agent to change the FROM email address?

    Hello Nick

I don't think there is a specific permission, they just need to click on the from and choose from the available email addresses.  But I will look further into this.
Have they refreshed the view since you enabled it?

Yes. Its odd. I have the ability to change the "from" but my agents cannot.

    Hi Nick,

I took a look through the documentation, and I couldn't find a dedicated permission that specifically controls the ability to change the From address.

From what I found, this behavior appears to be driven by the email and queue configuration rather than by an additional privilege.

A few things I'd recommend checking:

Verify that all outbound email addresses have been added to the queue using Manage Addresses.
For each email address, confirm that Select From Email is enabled. According to the documentation, this is what allows the sender address to be selectable when composing an email.
Confirm that agents have the required permissions to send outbound emails. The documented prerequisites include Conversation > Email > Create, along with the recommended External Contacts permissions and Routing > Queue > View.
Have the affected agents sign out and back in after the configuration changes.

If all of the above is configured correctly and administrators can change the From address while agents still can't, I'd be interested to know if anyone else has seen the same behavior. At that point, it may be worth opening a Customer Care case so Support can determine whether this is expected behavior or a product issue.

It is definitely permission based. Something is stopped it. Another one of my supervisors has access to the from dropdown, but my agents do not. Ill keep looking.

It appears to be the routing > email > manage permission. We had this same issue and adding this permission to agents resolved the issue.

I believe @Daniel Rectenwald is correct but also that routing > email > view permission should work. I have followed up with the documentation team and product manager to get confirmation and the resource center updated
