  • 1.  Coming Soon: Division-Based Access Control for ACD Skills

    Posted 5 days ago
We're excited to share an upcoming enhancement to Genesys Cloud that will provide division-based access control for ACD Skills, helping organizations better secure and manage skill visibility across their business.
    Why this matters
Today, users with the appropriate permissions can view and manage ACD skills regardless of the division to which those skills belong. For organizations that need stronger segmentation of resources and data, this can create challenges.
Many customers, organisations supporting multiple business units, and enterprises with strict data isolation requirements, need greater control over who can view and manage specific skills.
For example, skill names can sometimes contain sensitive operational or business information. Organizations that support multiple customers or brands may need to ensure that users can only see skills relevant to the divisions they are authorized to access.
    What's coming
With this enhancement, administrators will be able to:
    - Assign ACD skills to specific divisions
    - View and manage the division associated with a skill
    - Filter skills by division
    - Restrict visibility and management of skills based on divisional access
Users will only be able to view, search for, and manage skills that belong to divisions included in their scoped roles, helping organizations align skill access with their existing division strategy.

    Availability
Division-based access control for ACD Skills is currently in the final stages of development and is expected to be available in on or after 29 June 2026.
We'll share additional details, documentation, and release notes as we get closer to general availability.
    Stay tuned for more updates!

    Hello @Ananya Singh!

This sounds like a great enhancement.

Having division-based access control for ACD Skills will help a lot with organization and governance, especially in environments with multiple teams, business units, or customers in the same org.

It should make it easier to keep skills aligned with the correct operational area and reduce unnecessary visibility for users who do not need access to them.

This will be very helpful for keeping Genesys Cloud environments cleaner, more secure, and easier to manage over time.

    Hi @Ananya Singh,

Will assigning a division to skills be mandatory?  Or can we leave them as unassigned?

    Thanks,

With this update, new skills can be created in the Unassigned division. To ensure a seamless transition, all existing skills will automatically be placed in the Unassigned division by default unless they are subsequently reassigned to another division.

For existing skills will we be able to assign them to a division or will the capability to assign to a division only apply to newly created skills?

    Hello @Ananya Singh

Please allow me to confirm the following two points:

    Confirmation ①:
My understanding is that this function does not force administrators to configure settings. Is this correct?

    Confirmation ②:
I understand that skills that are not assigned to a department will be marked as "unassigned."
I also understand that they will function as before even in the unassigned state. Is this correct?

    1:
Yes, that is correct. This feature does not require administrators to configure divisions for skills. Administrators may choose to assign skills to specific divisions if they want to take advantage of division-based access control, but there is no mandatory configuration required.

    2:
Yes, that is correct. Skills that are not assigned to a division will belong to the Unassigned division. Existing skills will be placed in the Unassigned division by default.

Skills in the Unassigned division will continue to function as they do today. The feature simply provides the option to organize skills into divisions and apply division-based access controls where needed.
