Corey,
We have been mulling this over internally, and the path we're considering at this time is to use a system prompt to play during the execution of the data action. The System prompt would delay 1 second, then play for at least 1 second and continue playing until the data action completes. As data actions have a maximum timeout of 1 minute, the audio prompt could potentially play for the entire minute (if the data action timeout is not overridden within the flow).
We've been exploring several possibilities for the default audio prompt, centering around sounds that would indicate the system is processing something (tones, keyboard keys clicking, etc.). The thought is that the default prompt could be overridden, allowing you to customize what is heard, but still staying within the time parameters mentioned above (delay for 1 second, play for at least 1 second, play until the data action completes or times out with a maximum of 1 minute).
I'd like to understand what your views on this proposed approach would be, as it differs significantly from your proposed approach. Feel free to contact me directly if you'd like to share your thoughts on this.

I'm having exactly the same issue. We can have up to 10 seconds of dead air at the beginning of an inbound call while we perform the data dip, and other web services actions.
It would be nice to have the ability to put a voice prompt at the beginning of the Inbound Call Flow that doesn't hold up the flow while it plays, allowing the data dip and web services actions to continue functioning in the background.
If the data dip completed before the prompt, it would need to wait for the prompt to finish before taking any action, such as transferring the call, or playing the next voice prompt.
Surely there's a way to do this?

Hi,
Thanks for the concern. We have brought this up multiple times with Genesys and also raised a enhancement request for this, which is currently in the road map but will not be available any time soon. Idea number : CLINT-I-9
As an interim we are also doing it with messages before and after the data dip. Not all datadips retrieve information in small chunks, there are some which do take a bit of time to query different systems and get back with the result. These cannot be managed with interim messages.
It would be great to have this feature implemented as soon as possible, which opens up numerous opportunities to achieve lot of self service features on the IVR which gives a better customer experience and reduces calls to the contact center.
Is there a way that we can get votes from other users also for this feature and get this high up in the Genesys roadmap list that it can be implemented much sooner ?
Thanks,
Anil

This is definitely something that we have heard requests for in the past, and are evaluating the best way to approach this. With that said, there are certainly some interim steps that can be taken to optimize your call flows to minimize the amount of "dead air" that is heard by a caller. At present, the IVR performs as many of the steps in your flow as possible until it is forced to play some audio sequence. One thing that I have found to mitigate is to have small audio sequences interspersed between your data actions, typically confirming information that was retrieved by the data action. This forces the audio to "flush" as quickly as possible, as the edge process as much of the call flow as it can until it's forced to either play audio or seek input; breaking the segments of the flow the edge is able to process into smaller pieces generally minimizes the amount of "dead air" heard by the caller.
I realize this isn't a perfect solution, but it at least gives you something to experiment with. I'll also request that we review whether there's something additional we can do from the product side to at least avoid complete silence.

Hi,
We are performing different webservice datadips in the IVR to achieve smart routing. Some of these datadips take longer than 5 seconds to respond. In these situations, customer does not hear anything and there is a long pause.
So, we are looking to have a music/message while the IVR performs datadip. Is this possible to achieve this in purecloud ?
If not, is there any alternative solution to this ?
Are there any other users who are also looking to get this feature in purecloud as well ?
Regards,
Anil
