  • 1.  Developer Certification - Study Tips

    Posted 2 days ago
    Hi everyone,

I'm planning to take the Developer Certification soon and would love to hear from those who have already gone through the process.

What areas should I focus on while preparing? Are there any topics that carry more weight or caught you by surprise during the exam?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance! 😊

I recently went through the certification process, and my biggest recommendation is to focus on understanding the concepts rather than trying to memorize answers.

A few areas I would prioritize:

    • Architecture and core platform components: Know how the different Genesys services interact and the purpose of each component.
    • APIs and integrations: Be comfortable with common API usage patterns, authentication methods, and integration scenarios.
    • Event handling and workflows: Understand how events, routing, and automation are implemented in real-world solutions.
    • Best practices and recommended approaches: The exam often tests whether you can choose the most appropriate solution, not just whether you know a feature exists.

For preparation, I found the official eBooks, learning paths, and practice questions extremely valuable. Don't just check whether an answer is right or wrong. Take time to understand why the correct answer is correct and why the other options are not.

One thing that surprised me was that some questions were scenario-based and required applying knowledge rather than recalling a specific fact. Because of that, hands-on experience with the platform can be just as helpful as studying the documentation.

During the exam, read every answer carefully. Often there are multiple plausible options, but one aligns more closely with Genesys best practices or the specific wording used in the documentation.

Good luck with your exam. With a solid understanding of the eBook material and some hands-on practice, you should be in great shape!
