    Hi,

I am trying to decide on which trunk to place an outbound call using Dial Plan and Outbound routing. We can crearte a dial plan per site which will determine which outbound routing to use; however, I cannot figure out how outbound routing would use it to decide which trunk to choose. I can assign a trunk to outbound routing, but how to specify which trunk to use based on what dial plan?

Let's say that when I am calling 212 888 8888 I would like to use trunk with ANI#1 and for 310 888 8888 I would like to use trunk with ANI#2.

Right now, the only way I can think of is by creating a new Site for each new ANI, which is a bit disconcerning. I am missing something obvious here.

In your Site, you specify Number Plans to define which numbers match to a classification and Outbound Routes that tells the system which trunks are used for each classification.  So, in your case the 2128888888 would be in your Number Plan or some other match and in the Outbound Routes, you would place that classification to go out the trunk with the 212 number as the ANI.  One thing to realize is that you can make up your own classifications just by typing it into the Number Plan space.

Also, on the trunk, there is some manipulation you can do to allow the replacement of the OLI based on some REGEX matching.  That might work for you.  We don't have the local OLI replacement at this time, but hopefully, we will get something to allow automation of that in the future.

What we have done for some customers is a small custom app for dialing to allow lookup and manipulation of the OLI and dialing via the API instead of the UI.

I am trying to wrap my head around what you wrote. Makes sense until I try to implement it.

The issue I am having is "classification". If I understood you correctly, you are saying that dial plan and outbound routes are tied together via "classification"? So, we can have the same classification for dialplan and outbound routing and it would decide which routes (and thus trunk groups) are used by which dial plan?

    Hi Viktor,

Under Sites you can create different Number Plans and each plan are assigned a classification, which could be called anything you want.

You then create different Outbound Routes and on each route you assign which trunks it will use and which classifications should use that route.

    Step at a time:

    1. Create a dial plan entry with REGEX of 212[0-9]{7} and type in the Classification "212 Numbers"
    2. Create a new Outbound Route with the 212 trunk specified and use 212 Numbers in the classification
    3. Use the simulation to test that
