  • 1.  Does anyone know when the Intra-Edge Communications happen regarding Interactions?

    Hi everyone,

    Here is my lab example,
    -There are 2 Edges in a Edge group.(Edge A and Edge B)
    -SIP phone is registered to the both Edges, the Primary Edge is Edge A and the Secondary Edge is Edge B.
    -An incoming call is only routed to Edge A.

    When an incoming call is routed to a SBC from the SIP carrier, and in turn the call is routed to a Edge,
    as far as I know the SIP INVITE message is sent from Edge A to the SIP phone, because Edge A is the primary one for the SIP phone.

    Does anyone know when Edge B sends the SIP INVITE to the SIP phone?
    I think this can happen when Edge A hits its call capacity limit or the Phone Trunk between Edge A and the SIP phone is disconnected.
    So, in the normal operation, I guess Edge B is not used to route calls, is this correct?

    Hi Tetsuro,

    Your scenario should cover load balancing of calls between edges, call transfers, phone allocations (where user A might have their phone be connected to Edge B instead of edge A) and fail-over scenarios.

    In your case, mainly load balancing will cover the call going to edge B instead of edge A:

    Hi Bert,

    Thank you for joining this discussion and providing me with the advise regarding the Edge load-balancing.
    My customer has the different requirements for the Edge load-balancing.
    In the normal operation, they wish that only EdgeA will be used and EdgeB is only used when EdgeA cannot be used due to network trouble or Edge crash.

    From watching the Metrics in Telephony section, mainly EdgeA is used but sometimes EdgeB is used.
    So, I would like to clarify in which condition EdgeB is used while EdgeA is still accessible.

    Hi Tsuzuki,

    Every phone has two different connections and they are always up (primary and secondary).

    If the call comes in via EdgeA, the system will only use the intra-edge communication if:
    1. The phone cannot be found using the primary edge (primary registration is down);
    2. EdgeB is the primary edge for a specific phone.
