    Hello All,

Would like to seek your expertise for the Edge Redundancy/Failover. For example, we have a 4 edge that is equally distributed to 2 sites. On Site A, the phone edge assignment is Site A as primary and Site B as secondary, and vice versa for Site B. When we tried to disconnect edge 1 on site A, the primary site edge assignment did not change to edge 2. Same with when we disconnect edge 3 on site B the secondary edge assignment did not change to edge 4. As observed, we need to put the edge 1 and 3 out of service so that the primary edge will change to edge 2 and secondary edge to edge 4.

Is this a normal behavior? Maybe you can suggest  any configuration we can do. Also, apologies if the scenario is not clear since I'm totally new to edge deployment.

    Thank you so much!

    Hi Rahzby,

I believe you need to take the offline edges out of service in order for this to work. I am not sure though.

    Hello Charis,

Thank you for your reply. May I know if you know any documentation for this, I already checked the phone and edge redundancy documentation from Genesys but no info for this.

    Thank you

    Hello Rahzby,

We do apologize for the lack of documentation on that feature. We recently announced that on November 27, 2024, Genesys will no longer support the BYOC Premises Edge Remote Survivability feature.

Genesys Cloud is moving from premises-based only solutions and to cloud media. This shift provides Genesys with more opportunity for innovation and support. A focus on cloud media enables Genesys to better provide and support these key functions:

    • Enhanced cloud media resiliency
    • Advanced IVR functionality
    • More powerful AI solutions that require real-time media processing

If you are concerned with remote survivability, Genesys recommends that you investigate the BYOC Premises section of Survive an outage with business continuity best practices. You can migrate your premises-based solution to a 100% cloud-based solution or you can combine your existing premises-based solution with one of the Genesys cloud-based solutions via the hybrid media feature.
