Feature Release - Enter Partial Day Time-Off Request using Start Time and Stop Time

  • 1.  Feature Release - Enter Partial Day Time-Off Request using Start Time and Stop Time

    Posted 06-18-2025 12:01
We're introducing an enhancement to improve how agents submit partial day time-off requests. With this update, agents can now input a Start Time and an End Time-instead of Start Time and Length-to define their request.  Additionally, the toggle to switch between a full day and partial day request now explicitly displays Full Day or Partial Day depending on the toggle's position.  Anticipating roll out week of June 23, 2025.
    What's New:
New input method for partial day requests: Start Time + End Time
Replaces the previous format: Start Time + Length
Enhanced labels for full day / partial day toggle.

    Why It Matters:
Improves Usability: Mirrors the flow of common calendar and scheduling tools
Reduces Errors: Minimizes calculation mistakes when determining time off duration
Enhances Clarity: Offers a more intuitive and transparent experience for agents
Examples of the enhanced toggle labels:
Examples of inputting and submitting a partial day time-off request (on a day when this example agent happens to have no shift):

This is a great feature!!  Do you know if this has any impacts on the little symbols that show hours allotments on the time off calendar?  My team has noticed that starting in July we no longer see those little "Fire" symbols when time for a given day is going fast.

My team is also experiencing this issue- the calendar has no icons after July 1st.

Thanks for the posts.  The fire icon that indicates waitlist status not showing is due to an unrelated problem behavior which occurs when the month shown is changed.  A fix is planned and will be rolling out this week.  In the meantime, any change in the other fields should trigger the calendar to refresh (click a day, change one of the times, switch the full/partial toggle).

The styling (fire icon) in the WFM Agent Time-off panel calendar update has been deployed.

The Time-Off full day/partial day toggle and start-stop time input is rolling out this week (week of July 7, 2025).

    Hi Eric,

Just wondering if there have been any changes to the "Time-Off Requests" screen in the WFM Module?

Every time I go in to make an adjustment, if I change the Leave Type, it reduces every single day down to a single hour

Which means I have to go in and manually re-enter the start and end time of every single time off request.

As you can imagine, for 4 weeks of leave, this is 20 individual adjustments.

Why can't the system just set a start and end-date, and then follow the work-plan, requiring less manual intervention.

Wayde - are you talking about the admin module, or the agent UI?  When entering a new request, the default times for a partial day time off are based on the current time, and the Activity Code definition's 'Time Settings: Length' as a data entry helper.  You could change the default length of that activity code to more closely match the length of the common work plan you are dealing with.

Alternatively, would love it if you would consider logging an idea on the idea portal for a new type of data entry helper behavior- "default start and end times for a partial day time-off request based on the agent's effective work plan on that day."

    Hi Eric,

This is the Admin Module, and the Default Time for Annual Leave, Annual Leave (Accumulated Time) and Long Service Leave is 8 hours.

I changed the code from Annual Leave to Annual Leave (Accumulated Time), and none of the start times I had set changed, but all the end-times changed.

I just went and checked the codes, and a few were set to 30 mins.

which is still unusual, as all the times defaulted to an hour.

But if a start time and end-time are already set, and all you do is change the "Time-Off" code, should that change the times?

    Hi Wayde,

Whenever an Activity Code (AC) is changed for a time off request, the system recalculates using the AC's duration set in the AC configuration. It compares it to the work plan to determine an estimated payable time. What is confusing about what you are saying is that your AC configuration for these codes is set to 8 hours for all of them. I'm also assuming that there has been no work plan change. If you are noticing this as new behavior, please submit a support ticket so we can look it over again. In the meantime, I'll ask our developers if anything has changed recently.

    Hi Eric,

I'm unsure who to report this to, but since the switch over for my region last night, I'm unable to use this feature. Any time I type in a number it turns into the number 5.

I'm putting together screenshots for my agents to refer to, and when I try to type in 12:30pm Start and 4:30pm End, the minutes won't show up as any number except a 5 & 0. Is there a bug with this feature? Is there anyone else who is experiencing this as well?

Jacqueline- I think you might be keying in '1230' instead of '12 tab 30 tab...'  using tab to hop between the input fields.   When using the keyboard to navigate the time control, and want to input 12:30pm-4:30pm and the control says 8:00am - 10:00am at the moment, here are the keystrokes to use:

12, tab, 30, tab, up or down arrow to switch from AM to PM, tab (selects the clock which is the drop-down list of times if you prefer entry that way), tab again to get to the End time's hours input, etc..

Thank you for getting back to me! Unfortunately, I am tabbing my way through the request. The only way I'm able to get :15, :30, :45 to show up is if I utilize the up & down arrow keys in the minutes box. When I tab over, or even when I click on the minutes box (so it's highlighted) and type in 30, it goes right to 50.

Thanks for the clarification- could you please start the care process by creating a ticket?  I will share with R&D at the same time.

Jacqueline, we figured out what is going on:

When the Business Unit settings for the BU the agent user belongs to has the 'Scheduling Granularity' on the BU's settings Scheduling tab set to 5 minutes, inputs are rounded to the nearest 5 minute.  The problem with that control at the moment is that it is rounding after 1 digit is input.  It needs to wait for all of the user's input to be completed and only attempt to round after focus leaves that field.  We have a fix planned for approximately next week to update this behavior.  Until then, recommend you use the 'clock' icon to pick the desired time.

    Thank you, Eric!

I will advise my team of the same. I appreciate you getting back to me.

One last thing, would you still like me to open a support ticket for this?
