Do you know of a way of searching Purecloud for customer emails? For a GDPR project, I am being asked to find out if any customer data is being held in Purecloud but I don't know how to search for it.

Hello, you can search PureCloud for all personal data associated with a data subject, including any emails that were sent or received by the data subject/customer.  Searching for personal data stored by PureCloud is accomplished through the PureCloud GDPR API.  Specifically, a PureCloud user with the appropriate privileges can create a GDPR_EXPORT request that will search PureCloud for personal data related to a provided name, phone number, or email address.

More information about the PureCloud GDPR API, including an export request, can be found at:

    Thank you for your question!

    You can either manually use the API or make calls using the developer tools <g class="gr_ gr_92 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="92" data-gr-id="92"><g class="gr_ gr_91 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="91" data-gr-id="91">@ :</g></g> Developer Tools

OK so lets pretend I've never touched PureCloud and I've been asked to use this API.

    Laurie,

I don't know your level of expertise. Accessing the API would need to be done by someone conversant with writing code in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Java, or Microsoft .NET.

There are Software Development Kits (SDKs) at https://developer.mypurecloud.com/api/rest/client-libraries/

The Developer Tools mentioned can be accessed from https://developer.mypurecloud.com/developer-tools/ and someone conversant with JSON could used the API Explorer section, under General Data Protection Regulation, to send a request, but it is not a graphical interface where you can just plug in a name or email address.

There is some basic API training at https://training.mypurecloud.com/course/urecloud-developer-api-basics/ for someone to get started, and some tutorials at https://developer.mypurecloud.com/api/tutorials.html (though none for the GDPR request).

Laurie, as a learning exercise you could go through the documentation listed above to eventually create an API request.

However, if you need immediate help with a GDPR request and are unable to use the API, I would contact Matt Smith (matt.smith@genesys.com) with Genesys Professional Services.  He and PS should be able to give you more immediate help with the GDPR API.
