Yes, this is a good find. The released 64-bit apps have an issue with defaulting to the Test update channel instead of production. Setting that registry key will indeed fix it and is safe into the future. Our next release will correct the default, and until it's available we won't be updating the test channel to prevent these early releases. Our apologies for this oversight.

For some reason 2.49.903.defaults to the Test update channel (I tested installing both methods: .exe and .msi). Manually changing the channel to Production adds the registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Interactive Intelligence\PureCloud\Directory\UpdateEnvironmentInternalV2 = 0, so I guess setting this registry value could be used as a workaround for mass deployments.

There may be several releases in test before a release candidate is finalized. Nothing "happened" to .905 aside from the need to make another build to address other things.
Our release timings balance a number of often competing priorities. We're loosely tied to the Chromium release cadence; our stated goal is releasing new versions of the applications within 30 days of Chromium versions reaching stable status within the CEF build channel. If there are customer-impacting issues we've addressed, we want to get the fixes for those in the hands of customers as soon as we can. Then there's always features that we're putting out.
There will always be a newer version coming in the release train, if for no other reason than because Chromium is updated -- they're on a 4 week major release cadence -- and we have commitments to our customers to keep up-to-date to address whatever security exploits get addressed in that framework.

Release notes now say version 2.50.906 is coming on June 1, 2026. What happened to .905? Would sure be nice if there was some sort of set cadence for these desktop releases. Makes it really hard for customers to plan for updates. We control our updates and push out to our users. By the time we package the latest version up and conduct internal testing for deployment, a newer version is out.

The default will always be set to production, so there should be no reason to specifically set it for base installation.

Thanks Jason and Brian! Brian, you are correct, the Update Environment was set to Test. We deploy the Genesys Desktop client using Software Center. Our next steps here are to disable the auto-update option and rely upon Software Center / Patch my PC to handle the updates for us. That should hopefully address the Test Environment scenario.
With that said, do you happen to know if there is a registry entry or option to control which Runtime and Update environment are set as part of our base installation package?
Thanks again!

Version 2.49.903 is the version released to production. I've verified that it hasn't been released to the wrong place early.
We have a new version in testing for future release that has been pushed to our testing pipeline. If your update environment in your advanced preferences is set to test, that's likely how it was presented to you. Customers should be only looking at the production update environment.
