  • 1.  Genesys not sending SIP REGISTER request to externel SIP carrier

    Hello,

I'm setting up my external sip trunk on PureCloud. Our provider bases his authentication on SIP Digest authentication - login, password, realm.
All is great but we are not getting inbound calls. Our Provider states that Genesys is not sending REGISTER request to keep registration status active in their system.

Is there any toggle switch or settings that needs to be enabled?

    Hi Kamil,
i dont know if this is your specific case, but based on genesys document on carrier interoperability (https://help.mypurecloud.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Genesys-Cloud-Carrier-Interop-Spec-2.0.pdf), the SIP REGISTER method is not supported (par. 2.5.2).
Also in paragraph 2.9 it is explicitly stated that: "Registration is not supported on Genesys Cloud trunks. Genesys Cloud will not register with the Carrier and will not accept registration from the Carrier under any circumstances."

I hope this has been useful.

Because of the load balancers involved and the fact that SIP trunking in Genesys Cloud has many pathways through each load balancer, registration is not supported - registration really only works with a fixed pipe between destinations. You'll need to work with your carrier to use authentication instead. The main difference is that authentication is handled on a per-call basis, like a password exchange - and registration is a background ping that keeps the path open and connected behind the scenes.
