  • 1.  How can I assign a specified Edge to a phone?

    Hello,

Upon reviewing the Platform API, it appears that the "POST /api/v2/telephony/providers/edges/phones" endpoint contains an Edge parameter, which allows for the assignment to a connecting specified Edge during phone creation.

    Questions:

    • Can this parameter be used to designate the specified Edge for assignment to a phone?
    • Has anyone successfully completed such an assignment?
    • Are there any other methods available for making this assignment?

    Background:

Currently, there is an issue with the Edge in the customer's environment, resulting in remote phones connected to this Edge being unable to make outbound calls.
The malfunctioning Edge is somewhat operational with inbound calls, so it cannot be completely decommissioned (InActivate) from the contact center's SL perspective.

In this situation, I'm considering manually connecting remote phones to specified Edge that is functioning correctly for both inbound and outbound calls.

As a workaround, we repeatedly delete and register the remote phones from the UI until they are assigned to a functioning Edge.
However, due to high randomness, repeated attempts are necessary, so we wish to register them with a designated Edge.

**Although the PrimaryEdge/SecondaryEdge parameters are deprecated, the immediate focus is on resolving the recent issue by changing the Edge assignment for the remote phones, so please disregard the deprecation status for this purpose.

    Regards,

    Hello Akihito,

Unfortunately, the Edge assignment for phones is a dynamic process. Our system tries to make sure that a single Edge is not overloaded with handling phones at any given time. I would recommend solving the issues with the malfunctioning Edge or taking it out of service if you will still maintain an N+1 configuration.
