  • 1.  How to compare User numeric input with alpha-numeric data from a data dip?

    Hi all,

In our architect flow we are requesting the house number that a caller lives at to be compared with the data on their contract.
We do a Data dip and retrieve their records but for extra security on certain options we require the caller to ID&V at a next level comparing their house number with what is on their contract. We found that when a caller presses 134 but on their contract it states they live at 134e that the authentication fails.

I need to compare only the numeric part of what is coming from the DB with the user input on the call.

How do I strip the alpha characters?

Split the string into a list, then examine each character to determine if it's valid (i.e. a number) or not.  Create a new string and add only the valid characters to it.  Here's an example common module to do it

Many thanks for the suggestion, shame we can't use regex to do this

    Hey Ruud!

In a previous life, we had a similar need. We ended up getting the folks providing the CRM API add an extra return field that contains the numeric portion of the house number only. Proved to be easier than trying to process the result when it got into Architect!

Ehhr yes I tried that route without much of success, somewhere end next year they said, problem with an answer like that is it can now next year but then next year it still can ne next year, so in fact never :(

Regex would have been a solution for this but that seems not available.

    Kind Regards,

    I hear ya!

This is the problem with a lot of deployments that I have seen. Nobody is willing or able to take a holistic view and say to the assembled teams "THIS is what NEEDS to happen for the most efficient outcome".

I lost count of the umber of students I had in class who had questions about how to do something that would be better served by a different part of the overall system, but their organizations are so siloed that if they can't do it in the phone system, it isn't being done!
    It's a tough one...
