  • 1.  Intent slot assignment not working

    Posted 3 days ago

    Good day!

I'm currently having some troubles getting the slot assignment to work in a (Virtual Agent) Digital Bot Flow.

I've created a slot with a custom RegEx type to match a zipcode. The slot is assigned to the Intent and even to some specific utterances. No matter how i phrase my message the slot never gets recognised and filled in. So when I ask for the slot later in the flow it will never skip this question.

Does anybody know how to get this to work? I know some slot types are not permitted to assign to an intent but these will not be selectable. the slot I have created is selectable.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Kind Regards,

    #ConversationalAI(Bots,VirtualAgent,etc.)

    Good Day Leon

    Hope you are doing well.

Just a question from my side.

If you test this on the slot type or in the Test NLU, does it show as valid or have an intent probability or slot value?

Can you perhaps share some more info on how you have set up the Regex on the slot type if possible.

    Regards

    Stephan

    Hi Stephan,

    Thanks for your response!

Sure I try to retrieve a zipcode (from the Netherlands example: 1432hh) which does match my RegEx:

Testing the NLU I don't get to see the results for the slot like in your example:

The slot is mapped to the Intent in question "Stroomstoring" though:

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Stephan,

I did some testing with your example and that worked like a charm. Seems like my RegEx might be the cause. I then tried to simplify it to "\d[0-9]{3}\w\w" which also worked!

Might need to do some additional testing to see if it covers all cases but I'm on the right track tanks to you!

    Kind regrads,

    Hi Leon

Thank you for the feedback and confirmation, glad that you were able to test it now successfully.

Only a pleasure, happy to help.

    Regards

    Stephan

Has anyone tried to get to similar slot types from the same utterance?
I'm struggling to get two dates captured. The use case is around appointment rescheduling. Example utterance " I'm calling to reschedule my appointment. That's on December 5th 2025. I need to schedule it to a later date, preferably December 10th 2025."

The utterance captures everything and the intent flow kicks off the way I expect it to, but the slots don't map. I'm assuming it's because the NLU is confused as to which date to put in which slot. Any thoughts?
