    We are not in production yet but I'm wondering how other organizations handle ongoing updates to the windows desktop PureCloud client.

    As it stands now, our agents will get an error message when they try to update the client because they have limited privileges for security reasons.

    Our IT team could push out the change in advance but it seems that there is no advanced warning / notification when the client must be updated.

    Does anyone have experience with this issue?

    Hi Jason,

    New desktop client version is announced in PureCloud release notes https://help.mypurecloud.com/release-notes/
    When we notice that new desktop client is out we distribute it first to few agents for testing. When we are sure that it works we push the new client version to all agents. We tend to distribute new versions quite soon after the release just to make sure we get all the latest bug fixes. There's no hurry to update, though. Older app version should still work. I guess  it would be mentioned in release notes if the app update was mandatory.

    Hi Jason,

    This FAQ might help: How can I check for the newest version of the desktop app?
    You can also check for updates on the PureCloud for Windows desktop app release notes.
    For information about removing Check for Updates from the desktop app menu and preventing users from receiving desktop app update notifications, see the Disable auto updates section in Deploy the desktop app (admin).

    Good luck as you get set up and go to production!

    This does not help.  It is very difficult to modify the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key.  Is there a way to do this with the HKEY_LOCAL_Machine?

    Windows
    In the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Interactive Intelligence\Purecloud\Directory, add a new DWORD value called "DisableUpdates", and set to 1 to prevent all updates.

    Example:

    "DisableUpdates"=dword:00000001

    I beg to differ...it is very easy for IT to set that up centrally using Group Policy.
