Subject: Messenger - Accessibility Improvements for Markdown Formatting
All - posting here a heads-up for upcoming accessibility improvement to Messenger UI.
Specifically we are planning to update HTML tags that originate from Markdown formatting: non-semantic tags (<b>, <i>, <pre>) will be replaced with semantic equivalents (<strong>, <em>, <pre><code>) per WCAG guidelines. This will make it easier for some screen-readers to handle the corresponding text being highlighted.
This also highlights our constant focus on compliance and accessibility, for building better products.
