It's not just you. In fact, if you check out this thread, you will see many people crying out for a "Dark Mode" (as well as other less than flattering comments on the new UI.)
There is also this idea open for a "Dark Mode", that you may want to vote on...

With the new Architect option I find that in viewing mode, some text is very bad to read.
Especially the light gray items (see example below) could have a more dark color.
But this could also be my eyes ofcourse getting worse by the years :-)
