I created a group called Roisin and  I am no longer a member or owner of the group but if I click official groups and click on Roisin I am showing as a member and can also invite other people to the Group.

That is the functionality of chat groups. Once you are in one, there is no way for someone else to remove you. You have to close the group on your own (at which point you would no longer be able to find/join a Private group).

If a group is Public, anyone can see it in the Directory and join the chat.

Removing someone from a group does not remove them from the chat room (see the first paragraph). Also, if a person is "mentioned" in a chat room (i.e., "@georgeg"), then they are added as a member of the room, even for a private group (but not of the group), and will remain a member of the chat room until they decide to leave.

    Hi George

I created a group , added members and then removed myself from the Group .

So why am I able to chat with people when I am no longer a member of the group .?

When you create a group, you are a member of the group (as the Owner). All members are automatically added to the chat room, and it will appear in their Chat panel in the Client UI.

Unless you close the group chat room, you will still remain as a member of that chat room even after you are removed from the Group itself.

If someone in the group mentions you in the chat room you will be added back in as well.

    Hi George

I closed the group and it appears under recently closed  and it won't let you delete it from recently closed .

If you click on that group it displays it under official Groups .

    Regards

    Roisin

Exactly as it should. That is the designed behaviour.

Don't click on it while it is in Recently Closed.

Also, another question--did you set it up as a Private group (only members can see it), or a Public group?

    Hi George

We have set it up as members only and owners only and the same issue.

Why would non-member still have access to invite people or see chats

    it doesn't make sense .?

It's the way it was designed. Chat room membership is not definitely tied to group membership, except adding people to the chat room when the group is created. Groups are not designed to really control chat room membership, which is why Privacy info should never be discussed in chat rooms. Someone could get added by mistake, and they can see everything ever said in the room. No way to kick them out. No way to clear the Recently Closed items manually.

It will often continue to show up in the chat for a little while. Have you verified that it still shows up after logging out and back in? Or after a refresh of the Client UI?

I tried it out, and the group chat room persisted even after logging out and back in.

Chats between members of the chat room still work.

I'm not sure what is intended there.

    maybe this will help you

    https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/create-group/
Note: Groups and chat rooms are similar, but they are not the same.
When you create a group, PureCloud simultaneously creates an associated chat room with the same name.
When you delete a group, PureCloud does not delete the associated chat room. Instead, it places the associated chat room in Recently Closed.
You cannot delete a PureCloud chat room. Recently Closed always lists the last 20 items you closed.

    https://help.mypurecloud.com/faq/can-i-remove-myself-or-someone-else-from-a-personal-chat-room/
FAQ: Can I remove myself or someone else from a personal chat room?
No. Users in a personal chat room are members of that group as long as the chat room exists. You can close the original chat room with the cancel symbol to the right of the chatroom name and then create a new chatroom that includes only the desired users.

Maybe this can be done through an individual request through raising Support Case.
