What are the supported configurations in terms of sites and their primary and secondary edges?
I have a customer with two standard edges on prem that are at two different locations. I have a site for each location. I have the edge that is located at each site/location configured as the primary for that site and the edge at the other site/location as the secondary.
This has been working fine and phones register to both as they should.
The problem is that we took one edge out of service due to a weird issue we are seeing where one of the CPU cores sticks at 100% and causes all kinds of problems. When we did so, some of the phones worked fine on the secondary, while some required that we change their site and reboot them.
I'm wondering if there is a better way to not only handle the configuration for phones, but for balancing out usage.
I know it's supposed to randomize primary and secondary, but that does not seem to be consistent. The phones always show the site's primary edge as primary and secondary as secondary, yet we run into these weird issues when we take an edge out of service.
Would it be worth trying a primary primary config on a site instead of primary secondary? What about making both primary and both secondary? Will it even let you save this (it lets you do it in the UI, but I haven't tried saving)?
I do have a ticket opened for the phone issue, but wanted to see what others thought about the configuration options for sites.
We are using a combination of Polycom VVX 301s and 310s.
Thank you,
