    Hi!

I'm a software developer aiming at integrating PureCloud with an external software that reacts to basic call events (call start and end). We signed a partnership contract with Genesys to do so and received a PureCloud demo instance.

In order to build and test our software, we need to be able to place and receive test calls. From what I see, we need to create a site, some edges and phones for that, correct? What is the best practice for our use case? Is there some simple guide we can follow?

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Best Marc

Welcome! Questions about general PureCloud configuration and usage should be posted to the PureCloud Community Forum. This dev forum is for questions about APIs, customizations, and integrations once you have your org set up. Definitely post here if you have any questions about how to use the APIs once you have your org working.

The best answer I can give is that you'll probably want to set up PureCloud Voice (PCV) as your telco so you don't have to run any software yourself to handle voice. You can use WebRTC stations on your computer so you don't need physical phones. Also consider if you can use non-voice media, like chat, to build and test your integration. That's simpler to set up, cheaper since you don't pay by the minute for conversations, and produces most of the same data as voice calls.

    Thanks for the quick response!

I had a look at the community forum before asking here, but felt that my use case is too far off from what is discussed there...

To rephrase my question: There is no way to test an integration without having to setup a full PureCloud instance and purchasing phone numbers?

    Hi Marc,

If you want to test voice calls in your developer org, you'll need to configure your developer org with PureCloud Voice or with an Edge that sits on your network.

You might find this Getting Started guide to be helpful.

    Hi Becky,

thanks for your reply! Turns out the underlying issue is that our developer org does not have voice support. We'll try to upgrade...
