  • 1.  Questions on SMS - Short Code and Long Code

    Hi,

    I have some questions on SMS:

    1. Can we send SMS with MMS (images) using a shortcode (Agentless) campaign?

    2. if a customer decides to opt out using keywords like STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT, does customer stop receiving messages from a particular shortcode number or will stop receiving any SMS from Genesys?

    3. Is there a way to opt out from long code SMS?

    4 Customers who opt out using the keywords STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT, is there a report that we can pull out of Genesys showing which customers/Phone numbers have opted out?

    Hi Praveen,

    Let me try to answer your questions best to my knowledge. There might be country specific or carrier specific exceptions as well.
    1. Yes it's possible with MMS capability enabled, and this is only supported on US Short Codes. There are additional costs involved to have MMS enabled on short codes. You must go through application process similar to short code purchase.
    2. The Optout is only associated to the Shortcode (or Longcode) it was sent to.
    3. Not to my knowledge
    4. Not to my knowledge. Feel free to add an idea about this, not sure how easily this can done though since the blacklist is on the carrier level.

    1. Could You please help understand or provide me instructions how to send MMS using shortcodes. I could not not find any Genesys documentation on this topic.

    2. I understood what You said.

    3. For logncode optout I think we need to figure out a manual way.

    4. For optout reporting Genesys released the below on August 31st which I found yesterday, haven't tried it yet.

    Hi Praveen,

    The reporting should help indeed! There is a status RECIPIENT_BLOCKLISTED, so this should help. I initially thought this would only be about the delivery status itself, to help to identiy unreachable customers.

    Let me see what I can find on the MMS question.

    Hi Praveen,

    On this page your find some information about your request: https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/genesys-cloud-us-short-code-application/
    At the very bottom there are several application forms and an email address to send the request to. If you already have the short code, but want to add MMS capability to it, no need for the form, just reach out via email and explain the situation. They will figure it out.
