Questions on User Settings Menu UI Changes

  • 1.  Questions on User Settings Menu UI Changes

    Hi,

I'm reaching out regarding the announcement about the upcoming User Settings Menu UI changes.
I have a few clarification questions:

    1. What is the target release date for these changes?

    2. Will there be a beta or early adoption option available for customers who want to test and prepare in advance?

These types of UI changes have a direct impact on agents' daily workflows, so having early access would really help us better understand the user experience and prepare accordingly. Even a couple of additional clicks can create friction and potentially impact efficiency.

    3.  If there is no beta planned, will there be a demo video or side-by-side comparison (old vs. new UI per menu item) to help with training and documentation updates?

Appreciate any additional details the team can share. Thank you!

    Hi Rainbow,

I had the same questions as you.  I had reached our Technical Account Manager (TAM) and they were able to provide me with the attached slide deck that shows current and future state.

    Hi Kelly,

Could you please remove the attached PPTX from the community post? While it is reasonably accurate, it is based on UX designs rather than real-life screenshots, which may cause confusion.

I have uploaded real-life before-and-after screenshots for your convenience to:

@Zoltan Juricskay, Am I interpreting that correctly that there will be one more click required to change presence? We use a number of secondary presences, so the current workflow is click the avatar, click the primary presence, then click the secondary presence. From the screenshots you shared, it looks like the new workflow will be to click the avatar, click the presence, click the primary presence, then click the secondary presence.

We just migrated from PureConnect. Our users are used to having one-click access to their top 5 presences. They're already unhappy about the 3 clicks. Adding another isn't going to go over well.

    Hi Dave,

Yes, the workflow will change slightly, and it may result in a few additional clicks. However, our primary drivers are:

    • Accessibility as the main priority
    • Preparing for future-coming  customer-configurable states and sub-states, which may involve a larger and potentially structured list of statuses

To support these future requirements, the UI needs to evolve accordingly.

    Hi Zoltan,

Could you provide a PowerPoint with larger screen shots? I would like to create my own PPT from yours, but the screen shots are very small and hard to see.

Also agree with the rest of the folks that this should be available for Pre-Release so organizations can get screenshots of the experience in their environment. Everyone has custom secondary statuses, and we would like to showcase the new UI within our standards.

    Thank you!

I agree with your statement below and along with that we also will need to update training documentation. Can we please get an anticipated go live date for this UI change. I'd like to be able to inform our agents prior to go live so they know what to expect.

These types of UI changes have a direct impact on agents' daily workflows, so having early access would really help us better understand the user experience and prepare accordingly. Even a couple of additional clicks can create friction and potentially impact efficiency.

Thank you, Kelly, for sharing the slide deck!

I realized I missed one question earlier: will this feature have enablement control? For example, similar to the Navigation UI deployment, will there be a configurable option to toggle the new User Settings Menu UI on or off?

    Hi,

The tentative GA date is mid-April. I will update the community once the date is confirmed.

There will be no Beta period for this update, as the change is essential to improve the product's accessibility.

I will share before-and-after screenshots in this community post within the next few days.

    Best regards,

    Zoltan

    Hi Zoltan,
just checking in on the GA timeline for this update-last note mentioned mid-April. Do you have a confirmed date yet?  Also, wanted to check if the before-and-after screenshots are available. This will help with our preparation.
    Thanks!

Any update on this? If Genesys is revamping the user settings UI, the users will need to know how user experience / flow of different functions (status change, phone selection, queue activation etc.) will change as well. This will require a video and before/after screenshot would not be enough.

    Hi Zoltan,

Thanks for the updates and documentation.  I'd like to confirm a few details to avoid assumptions and properly assess any potential agent impact.

    1. User Profile Icon Placement
    • Can you confirm the User Profile icon will remain in the upper-right corner with no change in placement?
    2. Menu Items:  Preferences, My Files, Activate Queues, and Forward My Calls
    •  Can you confirm their functionality and behavior remain unchanged, with only visual/UI updates?
    • Specifically, when selecting each item e.g. Preferences, will agents be taken to the same screens and options as today, with no changes to layout or navigation flow?
    3. Phone / WebRTC Menu Structure and Behavior
We understand that Phone will be relocated under Status.
    Current structure:
    •  Phone
      • Select Phone
      • Deselect Phone
      • WebRTC Settings
        • Audio Controls (including mic/speaker selection, New Profile, etc.)
    With the new UI:
    • Can you share a mockup or screenshot of how the Phone menu (under Status) will appear?
    • Will the same options (Select Phone, Deselect Phone, WebRTC Settings) still be available under Phone?
    • Within WebRTC Settings:
      • Will features like Audio Controls and New Profile still be available?
      • Are there any changes to placement or structure?
    • Additionally, regarding microphone/speaker selection:
      • Will this remain within WebRTC Settings, or be moved exclusively to Preferences > Sound?
      • Is the current Select WebRTC phone settings entry point being removed or relocated?
We want to ensure we fully understand any UI changes that could impact agent workflows, even if functionality remains the same.

    Thank you!

    Hi Zoltan,

Following up on my previous questions from last week. With the release scheduled for 4/20 (less than 2 weeks away), we're looking to finalize our assessment and would really appreciate your guidance.

In addition to the earlier questions, could you share a screenshot of the Preferences screen?
Appreciate your help and a timely response, many thanks!

    Hi Rainbow,

    • Access to the User Menu remains in the top right corner.
    • Preferences, My Files, Active Queues, and Forward My Calls remain unchanged.
    • The Phone menu item will be updated to support only phone selection; WebRTC settings will no longer be available under this menu.
    • All WebRTC settings remain unchanged in functionality and will be moved under Preferences.

I'll continue sharing updated screenshots from a working sandbox.

    Zoltan -

As stated by several others, we/our customer will have to update documentation for this new change. They have standard operating documents that have screenshots in the documents. This change is more than a simple cosmetic change. Locations for some items have changed. With no toggle or early access our training department who is responsible for user documentation won't be able to update documentation until after the change has already been made.

We request either a toggle or early access so documentation can be ready ahead of the change.

    Hi Team,

We have slightly adjusted our release schedule to allow additional time for preparation.

The updated User Menu is now expected to go live starting May 4 (tentative), following the standard Genesys Cloud regional release schedule. As with all releases, availability may vary by region.

    Thanks Zoltan

Presumably this is the same settings update that's mentioned on Resource Centre here?

Genesys Cloud – Genesys Cloud: Enhancing the new navigation experience with improved accessibility in the user settings menu - Genesys Cloud Resource Center

If so please can the expected deploy date be added to this info page on Resource Centre?  We need to have a formal, reliable place to see scheduled release dates for these user impacting changes.

Appreciate your efforts on here as always - but sifting through a user forum thread is not a suitable way for us to stay informed about when to issue comms to our user base.

    Hi Team,

No, the toggle is set by Genesys following the regular release schedule starting May 4 (tentative). This feature is not going through a Beta phase so setting the toggle on a per org basis will not be possible.

    Thanks for your understanding:

    Hi Zoltan,

Thanks for the video! One thing that really stands out to me in this video is that x symbol in the top right corner of the new UI. That symbol typically means "back out changes" or "don't save changes" (or something like that).

However, what is shown is the video that when clicking on this button, it is in effect like a "home" button; it brings you back to the start of the new UI navigation. I would recommend some other button than an "x symbol".

The other thing that stands out, as someone else already mentioned in the conversation: the extra click to get to the statuses is going to be one of, if not the largest paint point.

    Hi @Zoltan Juricskay

In reviewing the video, I noticed that the On queue option is visible as a Status option even when not on queue. Is this expected with this change? Today our agents only see On queue in the Status list when they are On queue .  So hoping you can please confirm what we should expect when this is released.

I see that out of office has also been moved to land at the bottom of  the larger status list, which is not ideal for companies who ask their agents to not use this option. It will now require more communication since it is showing up with all the options they are expected to use.  Ideally being able to control through permission settings whether to enable this for agents would be desired.

I'd like to reiterate the point about the out of office status. When agents use this status it often causes issues with presence/status. The best option would be the ability to totally hide this field, I'm aware this has been a "idea" with Genesys but has never progressed. So, if we could move this to the bottom of the list.
