Thanks Chad makes sense now
The description in the release note update wasn't clear in the direction whether it was for Inbound or Outbound. Just makes reference to be script initiated. So it was confusing to think that a DNC list function already existed

Add contact numbers to DNC lists in agent scripts
Script designers can now create scripts that enable agents to add contact numbers to DNC (Do Not Call) lists. This feature prevents future outbound campaign calls, based on agent input in the script. For more information, see Available script actions.

This feature now allows DNC list functionality for Inbound Calls. This is useful in the case that a customer calls in and makes a payment, buys a product, etc. and they are also set to be dialed later by an Outbound Campaign, we can now prevent that campaign call from happening.
The old (aka existing) one uses the existing contact and adds that to the DNC list when you are on a dialer campaign call and only works on a dialer campaign call. The new one is just a call to add a number to a DNC list.

In the recent release notes it states that Do Not Call function in Scripts is now available.
I might be missing the point of this release but we have been using this function in scripts for over 2 years now, so its nothing new.
Can Genesys shed any light on what's different from what already existed?
