Hello Satish,
First off, I strongly recommend creating a glossary/dictionary of terms mapping your legacy tool's features to Genesys Cloud WFM concepts. This helps tremendously when configuring the new features.
Next, reevaluate your current operational model. See how well it fits the way Genesys WFM is designed to work, and keep in mind the potential gains of the platform. Don't just focus on mimicking "as-is" process, look for opportunities to adapt and take full advantage of what Genesys offers.
From general WFM experience, one common pain point people hit is importing historical data for forecasting. Beyond formatting the spreadsheet correctly, make sure all timestamps are converted to UTC/GMT, as that is Genesys's default timezone format.
Also, keep in mind that Genesys WFM is built natively for omnichannel, not just voice, so your configurations should reflect all your active media channels.
Here are a few practical tips when setting up Genesys WFM:
-
Avoid overly rigid Work Plans: The stricter your constraints, the less efficient the scheduling algorithm becomes at covering traffic curves.
-
Set flexible windows for breaks and meals to give the engine room to optimize.
-
Clean up outliers in your historical data before running forecasts. If unusual spikes aren't adjusted, the algorithm will treat them as normal baseline behavior.
-
Create distinct Service Goal Templates for each media type (voice, chat, email, etc.).
The official documentation is your best friend here! If you run into any questions, feel free to ask.
Hope this helps you 😊
