Summary
The directory:locations:edit permission will be removed from the default Employee role. As a result, users created in new Genesys Cloud organizations will no longer receive this permission by default.
Effective Date
Monday, July 27, 2026
Details
The directory:locations:edit permission is currently included in the base Employee role, meaning all users have the ability to edit locations through the Public API. In some cases, users who are not permitted to edit locations through the UI can still modify them via API requests.
To better align with the principle of least privilege, this permission is being removed from the default Employee role. Going forward, only users who require the ability to manage locations should be granted this permission.
Customer Impact
- Existing organizations: No impact. Existing role assignments will not be modified.
- New organizations: Users will no longer receive the
directory:locations:edit permission as part of the default Employee role.
Administrators of new organizations must explicitly grant the directory:locations:edit permission to users who need to:
- Edit locations.
- Upload location images.
