We have a website that only works in IE. If I tried to open it in Chrome, it will give me an error. When I tried to screen pop from the PureCloud desktop app, it gave me that error so I knew it was a Chrome browser window. I tried change the default browser in Windows to IE but didn't help.  Can we change it to IE?

    Edward,

Hope all is well and you are getting settled with Genesys Cloud.

If you want to try the new Edge, it supports Genesys Cloud WebRTC just fine and seems to be more compatible with old IE sites as well.  I have switched to using it all the time.

The only other way around this would be to have a call sent to the system through a helper app that can call IE directly.  This would require a bit of customization and if Edge works, then you wouldn't have to go this route.

Let us know at Avtex if we can be of any help.

    Robert

The Desktop App is built on Chromium. There is no way to change it to IE (nor is IE supported - that was deprecated last December https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/deprecation-internet-explorer-11-support/)

Thanks George.  Can PureCloud pop an executable something like "iexplorer.exe http://xyc.com"?

Go security reasons calling an executable from the browser is not allowed.  We have built helper apps that sit in the system tray and monitor Agent activity.  When they receive the call, the helper app reads the information and calla the executable.  That is about the only way aside from wrapping the embedded framework in a local application shell and interact with the executable through the shell.

Thanks Robert.  Do you have an URL which gives more details of the solution?  Does the solution work for both purecloud windows app and PureCloud on chrome?

No, this is something we developed at Avtex for our customers, so nothing really published.  Yes it will work for desktop or web app.

    Hi Edward,

i made a demo for a possible customer about two years ago with a similar situation. I used a chrome extension that opens defined urls in IE or IE mode. That customer did not get PureCloud, but the demo worked good. I do not remember which solution I used, but it was something like https://www.ietab.net/.
