  • 1.  Speech and Text Analytics Certification – Study Tips

    Posted 20 days ago

    Hi everyone!

    I'm currently preparing for the Speech and Text Analytics Certification and I'd love to hear from those who have already taken it.

    Do you have any recommendations on what I should study or review before the exam? Are there any topics or areas I should pay special attention to?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Giulia Rokicki I recently took and passed the Speech and Text Analytics Certification.

    My main recommendation is to use the official Study Guide as your checklist and complete the official training course before taking the exam. The course helps you understand the concepts, while the Study Guide shows the areas you should review in more detail.

    I would focus on the following topics:

    • The purpose and main capabilities of Speech and Text Analytics;

    • Voice and digital transcripts, including availability and limitations;

    • Voice transcription prerequisites and configuration at the organization, queue, and flow levels;

    • Required roles, permissions, and settings;

    • Sentiment analysis and how to interpret customer sentiment;

    • Empathy analysis and how it differs from sentiment;

    • Topics, phrases, programs, and default programs;

    • Topic spotting logic, phrase matching, and topic detection troubleshooting;

    • Content Search, Topic Trends, and topic views for queues, agents, and flows;

    • Interaction Categories;

    • Transcription accuracy and Word Error Rate;

    • Dictionary management, extended transcription services, and data donation;

    • Topic Miner, including its purpose and limitations;

    • How STA supports coaching, compliance, quality management, and business analysis.

    I would also recommend spending extra time on Quality Management. In my exam, the Contact Center Administration section focused quite a bit on quality processes, evaluations, evaluation assistance, and how Speech and Text Analytics insights support evaluators.

    It is useful to understand the difference between automated assistance and the evaluator's own judgment. I would also review how STA can be used to improve agent performance, identify coaching opportunities, and support quality workflows.

    My suggestion would be to complete the course first, then go through every item in the Study Guide and use the linked Resource Center articles to review any topic that is still unclear.

    Try not to focus only on memorizing where each setting is located. Understanding the purpose, prerequisites, limitations, and practical use of each feature will help more. Some questions require you to choose the most appropriate solution for a business situation, so it is important to understand how the features work in real scenarios.

    Of course, the questions may vary from one exam to another, but these were the areas that stood out the most in my experience.

    Good luck with your preparation!

    Hi,

    Although Luiz is quite comprehensive in his response.

    One additional tip that helps with analytics-related certifications is to think beyond feature definitions and focus on why you might not see the expected results.

    For e,g.- understand what prerequisites must be in place before transcripts, topics, categories, or sentiment insights appear in reports, & what limitations could prevent them from being generated.

    When reviewing Resource Center articles, try asking yourself: "If a customer says this isn't working, what would I check first?" That troubleshooting perspective often helps connect the configuration, analytics, and reporting concepts together &makes scenario-based questions easier to answer.

    Good luck with the certification, Giulia!
