  • 1.  Unable to view Forecast beyond 6 weeks or Schedule Generate

    Posted 20 days ago

Hello, we switched from creating monthly forecasts to quarterly and have now noticed in the Forecasts page we are unable to view or modify anything beyond week 6 even though the Forecast is for 3 months. The same when generating schedules using this quarterly forecast, we are unable to select and generate a schedule unless it was within the first 6 weeks of the forecast.
Meanwhile the Capacity Planning page shows the whole 3 month's of forecast.

Is this normal or limited by our own configurations?

    Thank you!!

    Howdy Sasha,

When generating a forecast, only the first 6 weeks can be used for scheduling, that is normal.

    https://help.genesys.cloud/articles/work-with-forecasts/

"These forecasts are visible in two views. The short-term forecast view shows interval-level data for one week at a time for up to six weeks, depending on the length of the forecast, and can be used to generate schedules. The long-term forecast view shows day- and week-level data for up to one year at a time, and supports viewing up to two years total, depending on the forecast length. This view helps the forecaster see seasonality and trends but cannot be used to generate schedules. "

"Schedules can only be generated based on the short-term component of a forecast, which has a maximum of six weeks. Scheduling for more than six weeks in the future requires multiple forecasts."

    Hi Sasha,

Adding to what Brahdilleone mentioned, something else worth checking is how your planning and scheduling strategy aligns with Genesys' short-term vs long-term forecast split.

Even though the 6-week limitation is expected for schedule generation, many teams run into this when switching from monthly to quarterly forecasts because:

    • A single long forecast doesn't automatically translate into continuous schedulable coverage
    • The platform essentially expects a rolling forecast + rolling scheduling approach

👉 What we've seen work well in similar scenarios is:

    • Keep your quarterly forecast for trend/seasonality visibility (long-term view)
    • But complement it with overlapping short-term forecasts (every 4–6 weeks) specifically intended for scheduling
    • Optionally, align this with a recurring schedule generation cadence (weekly or biweekly)

Also, depending on your configuration, verify:

    • If your Business Unit settings or WFM permissions are restricting forecast interaction ranges
    • Whether you're using any automation (APIs / scripts) that might still assume a monthly cycle and could be affecting usability

    💡 In short:
What you're seeing is technically expected, but the operating model often needs to change when moving to quarterly forecasts-otherwise it feels like a limitation.
