    I know it wasn't possible previously.  Is it possible now or are there any plans to allow a number to be used for both voice and SMS?

    Hello Daniel,

    At this time using the same number for voice and SMS are not possible. However, I was able to find this Idea that is marked as Future Consideration in the Product Ideas Lab.

    This was the ADMIN response from a few months ago:

    Mar 7, 2025
    Moving this idea to Future Consideration for now, we do intend to do this work and are working on a few dependent feature first, once the dependencies are completed we will update this idea for upcoming development.

    I would recommend voting and commenting on that Idea so that you can be notified as the Idea development stages change.

    The business keeps asking on different projects and CoPilot gave some people conflicting answers.

    It's my understanding that this is possible but is a carrier level change the carrier being used has to enable the number for both.

    We have worked with Genesys cloud Voice team and we have our SMS numbers support both Voice and SMS, there may be additional form that will needs to be filled out for Voice in addition to SMS..  Additionally, we also have this enabled using GC/Twilio BYOSMS for the SMS part and BYOC for the Voice  and have both Voice and SMS enabled..
