  • 1.  WebRTC Audio Control Profiles changing to default automatically

    Hello,

I have a customer who has had a handful of agents reporting issues with their WebRTC audio profiles, as they are randomly changing from a custom profile for a headset to the "Use Computer Settings" profile. They then have to re-select the custom profile manually.

This can cause issues with their calls, as they may not notice it immediately and their default devices are not suitable for communication.

Has anyone run into this recently? If so, what recommendations do you have?

    Thanks,

A common issue with Jabra and any other wireless that disconnects from the base, the WebRTC phone will revert back to Default.  Best we can offer is only use the call control in Genesys Cloud to disconnect the call and not the headset or the puck.  Something happens when using the remote hang up to disconnect the device in settings.

Silly question but what benefit is there to having a custom profile vs telling it to use the Computer Settings?  Under what scenario would your preference be to have a separate profile?

From my experience, whenever Genesys Cloud uses default settings, it request Device[0] so it can randomly choose the first device in the list, which may not be the correct one.  Also, if it chooses another device that does not have a microphone active, it can cause the WebRTC to throw and error and not allow pickup or dial.  Using the profile insures the correct device is chosen, but the disconnect issue is something Genesys needs to look at and correct.

Interesting, thanks Robert.  How would I go about confirming which Device[] is being selected?

Is it selected for each call or for the whole login session?

CTRL-SHFT-I then look at the console log.  Should show which device is chosen.  When you see Device[0], you can assume it is Windows Default.  If another device, that is usually the profile is chosen.

Sorry, can you point me to where in the console view I'd see that?

@Vaun McCarthy you asked why folks would use custom profiles.

There are various scenarios, but ones that come up fairly often:
    - It is desired for the notification sounds to come through one device (computer speaker, for example) and the phone audio to go through a different device
    - A laptop might switch between docking station with devices attached (different headset, speakers, webcam) and no docking station but with bluetooth headset or some other situation, where the computer defaults are left wt the built-in webcam/microphone/speakers and the Genesys Cloud client swaps between various profiles depending on what's plugged in/active
    - Switching between desktop and laptop I desire specific options that are different from my computer settings. For example, in my office I p;lay music through my computer speakers (computer defaults) but I want the client to use my headset for notifications and voice

    Those are a few examples

    Thanks Robert!

I'm going to ask them to try not using the puck at all for now, as this is happening mid call with Jabra headsets.

    Thanks,
