  • 1.  When creating schedule and forecast for 1 week, creates 8 days

    Hi,

    I don't know if this is by design or an issue. When you create a weeks schedule or forecast it creates 8 days rather than 7. This has caused an issue in our reporting as it had two 6th of Novembers and when I go into the previous weeks schedules on a Monday it goes into that Monday rather than the previous Monday (which is does if I go into the previous weeks schedule on a Tuesday to Friday). 

    Can you confirm if it is meant to be like this or a bit of a bug? I suspect it could be something like the code is creating a list that is from 0 to 7 which is a list containing 8 days but I don't know.

    Hi James. We were told that this was built intentionally, and allows for continuity of certain configuration items between planning periods e.g. consecutive working days, consecutive days off, etc. 

    That said, we've been experiencing similar issues with reporting. I'm hoping that this overlap is no longer a requirement once Continuous Scheduling (WFMSCH-I-6) is delivered.

    Hi James, 
    as @Andrea Rushfeldt said this is intentional to help with the continuity of Work Plan constraints and to facilitate cross midnight/night shifts. 
    As we move towards the more continuous model this will become less obvious as we'll have the ability to produce longer-ranged interval-level forecasts that are revised and extended automatically overnight.
    For scheduling, we'll still require a forecast and staffing requirement calculation for the Scheduled period +1 day to ensure that Work Plan constraints and cross-midnight shifts are maintained.

    Is there any update on the continuous scheduling idea (https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/WFMSCH-I-6)? Last update was in June to say the idea was being broken apart. That is an idea we are watching very closely.

    the concept of continuous scheduling or a master schedule is something that we are keen to develop. At the moment it is sitting behind other, foundational, projects.

    While I know it's not quite the answer you might be looking for, I hope you can better understand how we are building towards Continuous scheduling and building a strong foundation and powerful suite of features for when we are able to deliver on the continuous concept.
