Hi Aaron,
the concept of continuous scheduling or a master schedule is something that we are keen to develop. At the moment it is sitting behind other, foundational, projects.
- Continuous/master forecasting will be the 1st step providing long-term interval-level forecasts that are updated daily.
- Long-term staffing requirements, using the Continuous/master forecast to produce interval-level staffing requirements for the forecast period
While we work on these we are looking to enhance the current scheduling functionality with:
- Activity Plans
- Work Plan Bidding
- The ability to trade alternative shifts with the system
We are currently also researching:
- Per-minute Scheduling granularity
- Schedule Fairness rules
- Employee Provided Availability
While I know it's not quite the answer you might be looking for, I hope you can better understand how we are building towards Continuous scheduling and building a strong foundation and powerful suite of features for when we are able to deliver on the continuous concept.

Hi Paul,
Is there any update on the continuous scheduling idea (https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/WFMSCH-I-6)? Last update was in June to say the idea was being broken apart. That is an idea we are watching very closely.

Hi James,
as @Andrea Rushfeldt said this is intentional to help with the continuity of Work Plan constraints and to facilitate cross midnight/night shifts.
As we move towards the more continuous model this will become less obvious as we'll have the ability to produce longer-ranged interval-level forecasts that are revised and extended automatically overnight.
For scheduling, we'll still require a forecast and staffing requirement calculation for the Scheduled period +1 day to ensure that Work Plan constraints and cross-midnight shifts are maintained.
