I couldn't find any existing SMS or OpenMessaging Middleware that is working with European SMS/RCS providers.
That's why I've programmed a cloud based (AWS) middleware that can handle OpenMessaging Messages from Genesys, converts the messages and send the messages via API to your own provider.
As I am from EMEA, I am currently supporting LinkMobility as SMS/RCS provider. Next will be German Telekom (Magenta Business) and maybe Retarus. I am open for new suggestions.
In Genesys you can also see the delivery state (with two check marks for "delivered").
Genesys doesn't support the "Read" state right now, even the provider can provide that information.
Customer can also send SMS/RCS to your phone number registered at your provider and my tool is sending the message to Genesys. The Genesys inbound message routing can then route the message to any queue.
If you are open to use RCS, you can also define two text messages. One text with up to 3.000 char for RCS and one shorter text for SMS-fallback. This prevents multiple SMS and unwanted high costs.
YES, unfortunately it's not "SMS" within Genesys, but it's it's the same look and feel.
Please let me know if you or your company would be interested in such a SaaS Solution and a roughly number of SMS/RCS you would send out monthly.
If I can see a demand that's high enough I will setup a company so that you can order that cloud service :-D
