Messenger icon is removing from website post enabling authentication toggle under messenger configuration

Authentication makes the messenger icon unavailable by default as it requires an authenticated user to make the icon appear. 

You'll need to deploy messaging that is not authenticated, then switch to authenticated upon login to your portal. You'll want to check out this beta for step up authentication so you can stitch the conversations together.
