User Menu Accessibility Improvements – Before & After

This overview highlights the enhancements made to the User Menu, focusing on improved usability and accessibility.

The accompanying video presents a side-by-side comparison:

  • Left: Previous User Menu
  • Right: Updated User Menu

It walks through the experience step by step, demonstrating how users interact with the menu in both versions.

Several menu items act as shortcuts to key areas of the application, clearly illustrated in the video:

Main Stage shortcuts

  • My Files
  • Activate Queues

Collaborate/Call shortcuts

  • Forward My Calls
  • Select My Phone

These updates introduce no changes to existing workflows or functionality. All improvements are visual and usability-focused, aligning with accessibility best practices to provide a more intuitive user experience.

Release Timeline

The updated User Menu is expected to go live starting May 4 (tentative), following the standard Genesys Cloud regional release schedule. As with all releases, availability may vary by region.

At a minimum, changes of this scale should be communicated with at least four weeks’ notice, and realistically, two months would be a far more appropriate timeframe. This would give teams like ours enough time to properly assess, update, and validate our internal workflow materials.

While Genesys is a key platform for us, it is not the only application referenced in our guides. Many of our processes span multiple systems, which increases the effort required to review, update, and train when changes are introduced. Even relatively small updates can have a wide-reaching impact across these materials.

Additionally, tentative or unofficial dates should no longer be shared in community threads. Instead, all release timing and confirmations should be communicated through formal, reliable channels such as official release notes and announcements. This will help ensure consistency, reduce confusion, and provide teams with a single source of truth to plan effectively.

From a governance perspective, we operate under an ITIL-aligned change management framework, which requires structured communication, defined change windows, and appropriate stakeholder engagement. Early visibility of upcoming changes is critical to ensuring they can be properly reviewed, tabled in internal forums, and included in workgroup agendas. Without this, it becomes challenging to meet governance requirements and ensure downstream readiness across impacted teams.

We would also like to reinforce the importance of early, clear, and reliable communication regarding upcoming changes. Having dependable confirmation on whether a release will proceed—or be delayed—is critical for us to prepare appropriately and continue supporting users effectively.

While we appreciate the focus on stability and quality, this highlights a broader opportunity to improve both the release process and how communication is managed.

Hi Zoltan,
we would like to kindly emphasize the importance of early and reliable communication regarding the User Menu Accessibility Improvement feature.
As this change affects all users, it would be very helpful if any announcement about whether the release will take place — or not — could be communicated in a dependable way at least two weeks in advance, ideally four weeks before the actual change. Even minor adjustments can have an impact on all users, and sufficient lead time allows us to prepare properly and provide the necessary training and support.
Of course we appreciate that stability and quality is key, but not only with this UI feature we see room for improvement in the release process and the communication about it.
Thank you very much for your understanding and support.
Kind regards,
Uwe

Hi,

We would like to provide an additional update regarding the release timeline for this feature.

Genesys had to cancel the planned release due to an unrelated rollback of a client software deployment. As product quality remains our highest priority, we must postpone the release of this feature until the client software quality has been fully validated through additional quality assurance activities.

As previously communicated, the release timeline had already been adjusted due to issues identified in an unrelated area to ensure the overall release meets our quality standards.

We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will continue to keep you informed as new information becomes available.

Kind regards,
Zoltan

Hi Team,

We’d like to share an update regarding the release timeline for this feature. Due to a recently identified issue in an unrelated area, we need to postpone the underlying release to ensure everything meets our quality standards.

The new tentative general availability (GA) date is May 25.

We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Kind regards,
Zoltan

Is there any update as to when these changes will be implemented?  Is the May 18th date still applicable or are these changes being moved out?  And if so, to when?  We need sufficient time to roll out communications regarding this change.

Does this effect the Embeddable Client as well?

Hi Team,

After carefully reviewing customer feedback regarding the original timeline, and taking into account upcoming holiday periods in certain markets, Genesys has decided to postpone the General Availability (GA) of the User Menu accessibility enhancement.

The updated GA date is May 18 (tentative).

We appreciate your feedback and continued engagement, which help us ensure a smoother rollout for all customers.

Regards:

Zoltan

Disappointed that you have introduced an extra step (click) to change your state (as shown when you change state from Available to Training).

Hello Zoltan,

thank you for the info. I would like to address two things.

  1. We find and unfortunate that there is no beta or a way to control the changes through permissions
  2. In order to make a selection or change in the Favourites, no more clicks are required in the new Anot than in the old one.

Best regards Florian

Will Genesys will allow early access to this via the UI Early Adopter permission, similar to how they handled previous UI changes?  Or can this be implemented as a BETA?
