Hi Heather
You are correct that, in the current UI experience, annotations can be added but not edited or deleted afterward.
Those permissions (Recording > Annotation > add/edit/delete/view) can be a bit confusing because they suggest full lifecycle management, but in practice the UI only supports adding and viewing annotations. Editing or deleting them is not currently exposed in the standard interface.
From what I've seen, these permissions exist mainly for access control and potential programmatic use, particularly through the recording APIs. Some recording-related API endpoints allow interacting with annotations, which is where those permissions become relevant.
so,
UI: Add and view annotations.
Edit/Delete: Not available directly in the UI.
Permissions: Still defined because they may apply to API operations or future feature support.
And to be honest, I personally have never used Edit or Delete via API.

After a bit of investigation, I can see that editing and deleting annotations is not possible on the user interface: Annotate a recording View summary - Genesys Cloud Resource Center
However, very specific permissions exist that suggest this is possible: Recording > Annotation > add/delete/edit/view.
Can anyone share with me if this is possible elsewhere on the platform (perhaps using APIs?), or if these permissions are simply redundant?
Thanks
Heather
