  • 1.  Clarity on release notes information

    Posted 2 days ago

    Hi all,

We have a team of around 15 people that read the release notes that genesys share at every week.

We often have discussion around what are the new feature and how it will impact our operation. Most of the time thoses discussions are around how everyone understand the new feature. We have come to the conclusion that the release notes could be more clear.

Are we alone, that thinks that the release notes could be clearer?

We tought that sometimes, including a screen shots of what the feature/implementation/new thing will look like would help us a lot to understand.

    thaks all.

    I think it's usually OK.
But I also remember having issues with some unclear information in the past, but it's not something that happens often.

With that said, I agree that screenshots would be a welcoming addition.

They could also include more information like:

    • Link to the idea (From Ideas Portal) where the request originated from.
    • Link to the official community thread (if there is one) that discusses that release or beta, etc.

With the additions above, it's easier to find more information regarding the new feature (Why it was added, which problems is it solving, possible scenarios where it can be used, etc.)

Absolutely, would be great if the release notes bulletin have a more detailed or explained information about each one new functionality.
Maybe a simple use case according as applicable.

    @Simon Dufour:

You're not alone--additional screenshots, animated GIFs, etc within the Release Notes section itself would always be welcomed. Without that we have to expand the Additional Details section of each Release Note and click on the link(s) to go hunt down the actual change within the related Resource Center articles. Fortunately we have a Genesys Account Management team, and our TAM (shoutout to @Phil Koch) proactively sends out a PPT/PDF deck with additional information (screenshots included where possible) about each upcoming release.

All of this aside, might I suggest submitting your suggestion/request for more details & visuals via the article feedback feature? To do so, scroll to the bottom of the Release Notes and click either Yes or No. Provide your email & feedback there, and the team that curates those Release Notes will see your feedback directly.

    Hi Simon,

Sometimes I am completely lost when reading a new release note. For some time now, they have been linking the AHA idea in addition to the knowledge article, but that's sometimes not enough. The AHA idea gives a hint about the intention and the new feature itself, but most linked knowledge base articles are general articles about an entire section of Genesys Cloud, with the new feature hidden somewhere in a lot of text.

I would really appreciate some screenshots or more detailed explanations. Genesys could simply take them directly from the knowledge base article to make things easier to understand. Sometimes a comparison of the old vs. the new version would also be helpful. If you create an idea in the AHA Idea Lab, I will definitely vote for it.

    I have submitted a idea:

Improving Clarity and Detail in Genesys | Genesys Cloud Ideas Portal

Not sure if it's in the correct category but at least it's there.

Of course the question then becomes, "If they enact this, will they mention it in the Release Notes and, if they do, will they reference your Idea and this thread?"

    😂
