  • 1.  Edge Group across two datacentres with single in each?

Understand it's not the recommended deployment but has anybody successfully got an Org going where they have just a single Edge in two Datacentres with the Edge Group essentially spanning across both?

I assume other normal deployment stuff applies - the WAN port on each connected through to an external internet connection, but a LAN port connected to the network providing it has a route through to the Edge in the other Datacentre via the company WAN?

We use a single edge group world-wide with sites having one or more edges. The reason for this setup is that we wanted the capability to dial by short extension between sites. Each site has a two-digit prefix and and a two-digit number, giving us 100 numbers per site (each user has a 4-digit extension). I supposed we could allocate multiple prefixes for a site should the need arise.

    Thanks Sven

Having all Edges in that single group spanned across countries obviously needs a WAN link.  Do you have any issues with latency with that setup?

We have linked our sites using IPSec site-to-site VPN, allowing the edges to reach each other on the LAN side. Latency is no issue for us. We handle Hong Kong calls in the UK, which is probably the largest latency for us (around 300 ms).
