Let me add some more detail to your scenario.
So your corporate domain is example.com and the your email address is service@example.com. This would be forwarded by exchange to service@example.mypurecloud.com or other relevant regional address. This would be the Purecloud domain.
To send a reply you'd need to add example.com as a custom domain and service@example.com as an outbound only email address. This can then use SMTP or DNS with TXT entry to send email. On your inbound address you can set the outbound domain and address on your inbound email.
As Genesys Cloud now supports IMAP you could potentially just use a custom domain.
