  • 1.  How is it so hard to log a user out?

    Posted 6 days ago

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm using SSO with ADFS. I'm trying to configure the auto-logout due to inactivity. I have all of the suggested APIs excluded as well as a few others, so I'm at the point where the auto-logoff is reliably trying to happen at the correct time. When I'm logged in, I can see my Genesys Cloud app go blank as it tries to log me off, then it really just refreshes and leaves me logged in. When I go check my status history, it never went to Offline. I see some other reports of similar behavior with SSO in the Community and Ideas forums, but I haven't seen a good resolution for it yet. Are we all still waiting for that?

BUT ... if I log in somewhere else as an admin, go to the Queue Activity view, then manually log out my test agent, the logout works! It doesn't log me right back in like it did above. I had the developer console open so I could see what was happening on the agent's side. I see a request go to https://apps.usw2.pure.cloud/api/v1/logout in both cases. I can't figure out what's different about the manual administrative request vs. the automated logout due to inactivity. In my testing, all of the auto-logout requests come from an IP address starting with 52, but the one manual request came from an address starting 44. Both addresses come back as AWS addresses, so I'm not sure there's anything to that.

What am I missing? What is the manual logout doing differently?

    Hello,

Do you have Single Logout configured for the SSO?

It might be the same issue as when a supervisor tries to logout an agent described here

Yes, I have that configured. It wasn't at first, so I was hopeful that it would fix the issue when I set that up. That's set up and working now. Whether it works or not, I would at least expect the same behavior when a supervisor logs an agent out vs. when the system logs an agent out due to inactivity.
