  • 1.  Multiple people editing one schedule

    Posted 07-17-2023 14:46

    Hello,

What are the restrictions editing schedules with multiple people? We currently have different schedules set up for different departments, so this doesn't come up often. However when one analyst is really busy, and another is completely caught up we would like to be able to have both analysts working in one department. However when we do this, we frequently get an alert that the schedule cannot be updated because another analyst already updated it. But we don't always get this error. So I was wondering, what are the lines to multiple people editing the same schedule at the same time? When will we create issues for each other doing this? It would be helpful to know when we are going to mess someone else up

    Thank you in advance

Today we auto-resolve competing schedule edits (i.e., concurrent changes by two users) at the agent level across the entire schedule period. We handle the case of supervisor 1 modifying Bobby's schedule and supervisor 2 modifying Suzy's schedule, but if both modify Bobby's schedule for any point in the entire scheduling period then the second supervisor's changes will result in a conflict.

At a minimum we could pursue going down to the agent+day granularity.

I have created the following Idea to cover the improvement: https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/WESCH-I-230

    Hi Jay,

We just retested this morning with this in mind and it worked like a charm. I will vote on the new idea for sure, but I am not quite sure it's necessary. As long as we know what agents we are working with then there are no problems doing it this way. Thank you for the help!

I certainly would appreciate this level of granularity. Our team works with multiple departments as well, although until the Exceptions feature comes online, we have to manually enter those exceptions onto agent schedules, so this is an issue we run into on a regular basis while also trying to update schedules to show attedance issues.
