It's been announced by Genesys that effective end 2019 the Purecloud bridge software is to be retired.

(and George - a big thankyou for bringing this to my attention too - appreciated)

Only problem at the moment is that the supported replacement systems for features that the bridge server provides - things like AD synch and webservices data dips - don't seem to be announced or available for migration.

We are heavily invested in bridge integrations and may need to deploy new ones in the next 3 months but obviously don't want to do so if they will be turned off at year's end.

Has anyone from Genesys any information about when we can expect to see these alternatives and start to migrate to them?

And I still live in hope that Purecloud will inherit direct SQL query functionality so we can query and write to SQL databases directly from within a flow and not have to route them through the data dip mechanism.

The replacement for the Web Services Data Dip Connector has been out for a while:

    https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/about-web-services-data-actions-integration/

Of course, it doesn't allow you to connect to a local web service which is not exposed to the internet...

There is some direction for how to migrate the Architect flows, but not the data dips themselces.

AD is the main integration still being worked on.

The Web Service Data Dip is deprecated in favor of Data Actions.  Data actions perform the same function as the data dip connector, with significantly more functionality built into the integrations (namely support for additional http verbs and authentication being handled natively).

The expectation is that customers will use their technology of choice to create a publicly accessible https web service endpoint that will be accessed by a data actions integration.  This could be as simple as using a port forwarding technology like ngrok (https://ngrok.com/ or https://serveo.net/ or https://alternativeto.net/software/ngrok/) to something more complicated like hosting their own web service in the cloud, or anything in between.  This "new" approach puts the customer in control of their data access by providing better visibility into the accessing of that data.  The data will traverse PureCloud in a secure fashion, using the same data flows that were certified to meet pci compliance standards in the US.  The hope is that this "new" approach provides more transparency in the whole data integration process, avoiding opaque/proprietary methods in favor of more transparent options.

Because Data Actions utilize the same input and output contract format as the Data Dip connectors, they can be easily dropped into call flows in place of the data dip connector actions: https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/migrate-interaction-flows-for-the-data-actions-integrations/.

    Hello!,
Some of our customers have the needs to access their internal web services, and also if there is some easy ways to expose API to internet (e.g.
https://ngrok.com/ see: https://developer.mypurecloud.com/blog/2018-09-11-access-local-service-from-the-cloud/) not always can be used (for instance there are some security concerns for production enviroments and to expose publicly "sensitive" API).
IFor these cases we decided to build and offer a specific version ("Special Edition") of our product "onStage" (an API Manager).
The idea is, for existing customer using bridge and web services data dip, to "switch" to  a similar concept installing on the same server(s) a connector to the cloud (the customer need to use data actions) and in this way they can keep existing internal web services and server. For new customer the possibilities are wider and the client could also directly connect to DB or SOAP or other interfaces avoiding to build an additional service(s).

Anyway, in case someone wants more information on this possibility can a have a look on https://www.onstageapi.com/solutions/onstagebridge/
