  • 1.  Unable to View Billing Split by Business Unit

    Our organization has multiple business units and cost centers, each with separate licenses assigned. However, in Genesys Cloud billing reports, we are unable to view a business unit-wise split for users and resources.

    Currently, the billing information appears consolidated, making it difficult to track costs per unit.

    Is it possible to 
    • View billing details segmented by business unit or cost center.
    • Identify license allocation and usage per unit.
    • Generate reports for unit-wise cost analysis.
    This limitation affecting the financial transparency and cost allocation for different business units inside organisation.

    We had a similar request and I was unable to find a solution that provides all the relevant information.

    I found this idea on the "Ideas Portal" - https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/OP-I-691.  Would recommend that you perhaps vote on this as well.

    Will leave it open to the community if anyone has perhaps a different solution or workaround.

    Hello Praveen,

    Stephan is correct, I would also echo that you should vote on and comment on those ideas in the Product Ideas Lab. The top Admin comment on the first first idea is:

    This is the #1 idea under subscription & Billing. We recognize the need and want to provide this functionality. The first step is taking a more serious look at our available billing/usage APIs. We can't offer segmented data with what we have now. We have numerous other ideas asking for a better billing/usage API layer as well. For that reason (and others), we will be introducing a brand new Usage API to customers H1 of 2026 under idea https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/OP-I-448. This new API is in progress and is already designed with segmentation in mind. Once that's out, we can work to extend it to support segmentation as a feature. That will be a project to begin in H2 2026.

    So as of right now, we don't have a clean way to break down the billing usage but it is on our developer's list of things to do.

    Do you have business units set as divisions within Genesys?  If you do, then from a licensing perspective you can run the billable usage report and get license allocation per month broken down by division using a pivot table.  This would also assume you are running a named rather than concurrent license model. 

    As far as usage that would depend on upon which division is using what service and using a percentage-based model by division for something like AI token usage. 

    You can run similar reports from the analytics workspace for interaction type and count per division, then factor the cost per interaction and align accordingly for division usage.  These can be scheduled to run and be delivered via email monthly.

    It's not all one clean report but could easily be built into a spreadsheet to just enter the numbers in on a monthly basis and provide a division/business unit-based billing solution.
