  • 1.  Unique ID when renaming objects

    Posted 01-15-2026 03:28

I am looking to understand a bit of logic, and hoping someone can help me please?

When I rename a queue, the ID does not change. This means when using APIs for reporting purposes our data and reporting does not change.

However, when I rename an evaluation form (no other changes), the ID changes, and this means that we need to make considerable adjustments to our reporting. It also makes comparing answers within the evaluation complicated.

Is there a reason the ID changes for some objects and not for others?

    Thanks,

    Heather

    Hi Heather,

I believe this is due to the system seeing it as a new version of the evaluation form when its published, even if it is only a name change as the evaluation forms have versioning. It might be a good question for the WEM Community experts to confirm this, so I will move it over there

Sam, you are correct. Even if it is a subtle change, it is still a new version of the form that gets published.

    Thanks!

That makes sense. Even though the form ID changes with each new version, we can keep the same evaluation form name and effectively use the name as a logical identifier.

By keeping a consistent naming standard, it becomes much easier to match and aggregate results in reports, regardless of the underlying versioning behavior.

Thanks for the clarification - this definitely helps with reporting strategy and governance.
