  • 1.  Upload a user's voicemail greeting

    Hi together,

    some small departments that are just using User Groups require having voicemails to be send to a shared mailbox instead of sending the mail to each colleague.
    Because the given e-mail address at the User Group is not used for a voicemail destination ...  I've configured at the User Group a "Overflow Back-up Contact" user with the shared mailbox address.

    When the call arrives at the User Group and no one is available the call is routed to the backup user and then you hear the personal welcome greeting.
    For the groups we have previously recorded voicemail greetings.
    I've tried to figure out to somehow upload a wave file content via API as a user's voicemail greeting. But I couldn't find any suitable REST request.

    Is there anyone who could solve the problem already?

    And yes, I've already created an idea that the group's e-mail address can get used as a voicemail destination.

    Hey Robert,

    I was looking around on the API Explorer and I saw that we have a section for Greetings that is separate from voicemails. I found something that Creates a Greeting for a Group. Is this something that you were looking for?

    Hi Jason,

     

    Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the problem that I need to upload a greeting message (wave file) to a user.

     

    At group level there is a greeting file upload possibility via Web UI.

    I tried to figure out how Genesys is doing the upload, but I didn't get it.

     

    I also found the /api/v2/users/{userId}/greetings at  https://developer.genesys.cloud/devapps/api-explorer#post-api-v2-users--userId--greetings that is able to create a user greeting with TTS, but without having the possibility to define a language, it sounds pretty strange to hear a German or French greeting with an English speaker.

    Hi @Jason Kleitz,

    we've found an OK solution:
    We have added a dummy user (the one with the shared mailbox address) to the user group as a member. This way the shared mailbox receives the customer voicemail messages.

    The colleagues still get the emails, too.
    But they are creating inbox rules to move this kind of mails directly to trash bin.
    I know that it's a waste of energy, but I would say it's up to Genesys DEV team to implement a better solution (as suggested at the idea portal).

    Hi Robert,  

    I'm not sure it applies to your use case but I am trying to upload a pre-recorded greeting for a user voicemail in an architect flow. I changed the language to one that's unsupported and found that it doesn't generate that standard greeting and the terrible sounding TTS rendering of the user's name. Of course once Genesys supports it then it will but I couldn't find any other way other than possibly modifying the default voicemail flow? I'm looking for a cleaner solution.
