The question I have is why wasn't Genesys built in a way where we have redundancy/fail over to another region when issues like this come up? Other telephony providers were smart enough to setup their systems so they fail over to other regions when things like this happen and therefore they were not as impacted by the issues on Monday.

Hi,
We're on us-east-1, currently running our own edges and moving to BYOC in the coming months. After Monday's outage and yesterday's hiccup, I'm wondering if we should go through a little bit of pain to migrate to us-west-2. We're physically located in Illinois, and our ping times to us-west-2 are almost twice as high (31 ms vs 58 ms) but a tiny bit of lag/jitter might be worth it compared to the outages that seem to be far more common on us-east-1. There was very interesting reading at "Is Northern Virginia Really the Least Reliable AWS Region And Why? | StatusGator"
Is us-west-2 more stable in practice? Has anyone made this migration, and how painful was it? Thanks in advance for any pointers/sharing your experience.
