    Hi all,

Referring to the subject title, I know that WebRTC only supports Opus Codec (https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/configure-the-preferred-codec-list/).

However, we are using BYOC trunk where the provider can support only g711 / PCMA. We have done projects in the pass where WebRTC in PureCloud supports g711, may I know why has the support for this codec been deprecated? It is quite a common codec in the industry. Is there anything I can do if both sides does not support each other's codec, hosting a converter somewhere?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Boey

PureCloud's WebRTC Leg is Opus only, because we've not had demand or need for G.711, especially since Opus is so much more performant and has a higher quality. If your external BYOC trunk is G.711, that's fine because the PureCloud edge does the transcoding between legs. You don't need additional infrastructure or encoding anywhere.

    Thanks Xander!

We still have problem establishing the connection but when it's done, hopefully webrtc codec will be transcoded to g.711 and not pose a problem.

    Jin,

I am running into the same issue. Even after removing Opus from the BYOC trunk the call still goes out with Opus as the only codec available. Was there a  setting you made to resolve this?

    Thanks.
