  • 1.  What do you need to set up to send a manual outbound SMS?

    I was attempting for testing purpose to send out a test SMS and clicked the green button. Nothing happened. 
    Are there outbound SMS trunks needed to send out manual SMS?

    You need everything set up per all the information linked from https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/about-sms-messaging/

    In particular you need either an SMS-capable phone number through Genesys Cloud Voice or to have the 3rd-party Twilio integration set up.

    Also, of particular importance for outbound, you need the proper paperwork submitted to allow sending outbound SMS messages as explained in the SMS Regulations section. Otherwise all your outbound messages are blocked.

    Hi George,

    Thank you for clarifying the steps. We have several dedicated incoming SMS long code numbers, and I wanted to confirm whether outbound texting is available using those numbers.

    I initially thought that sending outbound SMS would function similarly to a voice trunk, but it seems there are additional considerations involved.
