The API offers many ways to download and backup data, but restoration is something else. I would suggest you look at the Genesys Cloud CLI as a way to not only backup, but give you the ability to restore quickly through scripts and JSON files. Combined with JQ, you have powerful reporting and creation capabilities.
Introducing the Genesys Cloud CLIAs for recordings, again, easy way to backup is to use your own S3 bucket.
About the AWS S3 recording bulk actions integration - Genesys Cloud Resource Center (mypurecloud.com). There is no way to insert back into the cloud, but I always ask customers - which infrastructure would you expect to be more reliable - yours or AWS? Who spends more money on security and infrastructure - AWS or you? With the daily backups and reliability that Genesys has built into Genesys Cloud, the likelihood of lost data is so slim as to make someone want to buy a lottery ticket.
